How Long Does It Take to Get a Dental Bond?

How long does teeth cleaning take? It depends on what type of dental bonding you’re receiving, and whether or not you have any other dental procedures in mind, such as teeth whitening or teeth cleaning. For example, if you only want to get your teeth bonded and nothing else, then it should only take about 30 minutes or so from the time you arrive at the dentist’s office until you are ready to leave with your new smile.

How Long Do You Need to Wait Before Having Another Dental Bond?

Depending on how extensive your dental work is, you might need to wait up to three months before you can get another one. But how do you know if it’s safe for you and when is it best for you to have another dental bonding procedure done? Find out more here.

Getting X-Rays

Before you go in for your dental bonding appointment, be sure to ask how long you’ll need to wait for X-rays and how much time it will take overall. The technician or dentist may have some insight into exactly how long cleaning and restoration will take, but these can vary based on your specific case. If they aren’t sure, come prepared with an estimation of how long it might take, as you won’t want to end up waiting much longer than expected!

A dental bonding procedure is usually pretty quick and easy, so you shouldn’t have to wait around in your dentist’s office for too long. However, it’s still best to schedule an appointment in advance if you want to minimize your waiting time. To get started on making that appointment, make sure you know what type of bonding you need—and be sure not to delay too long before going in!

Preparing Your Teeth

Making sure your teeth are in good shape before getting them bonded is an important part of dental bonding procedures. If they aren’t, you could risk more serious health problems in the future. Don’t hesitate to talk with your dentist about any problem areas you have with your teeth and gums. Your dentist can then help you set up an appointment for dental bonding procedures that meet all of your needs.

Applying the First Layer of Varnish

You will spend 15-20 minutes in your dentist’s chair with varnish on your teeth. This layer of varnish strengthens teeth and prevents discoloration after bonding. This first layer may take around 45 minutes to an hour, depending on how many layers of material are applied over it. The varnish hardens after it has been exposed to UV light for about 30 seconds.

Waiting For 48 Hours

The first step in getting bonded is teeth cleaning. You must get your teeth cleaned before bonding so that you’re ready for your new veneers. During your teeth cleaning, we will do an exam and take x-rays so that we can see if there are any cavities or damaged areas on your teeth. If we find anything, we will fix them before doing dental bonding procedures.

Applying the Second Layer of Varnish

After your dental bonding procedure is complete, you will have some temporary varnish on your teeth. We generally like our patients to leave that layer of varnish on for about 24 hours before removing it with regular toothpaste and brushing. You may notice that you experience some sensitivity during that first 24 hours after your procedure; we suggest rinsing with warm salt water, avoiding hot liquids and any hard foods that could potentially damage your newly formed restoration.
